Title: | The Smiths, Amadons, and Salisburys at the Salisbury cottage in Petoskey, MI |
Description: | From left to right: Burleigh Salisbury -- George Amadon -- Harriet Smith -- Martha Amadon -- Clara Salisbury. Boy on upper level: Harry Hurlbut. Girl sitting on steps: unknown. This house is located on the northeast corner of Clinton Street and Bay Street. It is the second house south of Ellen G. White's home in Petoskey, MI. The property was purchased by Clara Salisbury on March 5, 1886, with no house on the property (Emmet County Record of Deeds, Liber T, p. 463). Ellen White built a home (which is not pictured here) in the summer of 1891 (Stanley D. Hickerson, "Notes on Ellen White's Home in Petoskey," unpublished manuscript. This document analyzes numerous letters between Ellen White an Willie White, written between August 1890 and July 1891). As a result, this picture was taken at some point between 1886 and 1891, probably in 1887 or 1888 (based upon the age of Harry Hurlbut). |
