Title:Allen C. Lawson posing as John H. Kellogg on the ocasion of the 100th anniversary of Battle Creek Sanitarium
Description:This is a picture of my step-father Allen Clyde Lawson impersonating Kellogg, John Harvey, 1851-1943arvey, 1851-1943 in the summer of 1966 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Battle Creek Sanitarium. President and Mrs. Lyndon Johnson attended this celebration. Allen is wearing a suit of Dr. Kellogg's and had to put a pillow in it because he was not as heavy as Dr. Kellogg. Allen's hair was black into his 60s, so he powdered his hair and used professional makeup for the mustache and goatee. Allen went to Jackson to board the train and was met in Battle Creek by a group who drove him to the Sanitarium in an old-fashioned car. Dr. Kellogg was 5'2 and Allen was 5'3 . Allen had worked at the Sanitarium in the purchasing area when he was 19 and 20 and knew Dr. Kellogg's mannerisms like looking at people over the top of his glasses. Some of the older nurses were in tears as they remembered Dr. Kellogg
