Description:Richard Hammill, president of Andrews University, signs a giant birthday greeting for John Peter Neff, the university's oldest alumnus, who celebrates his 100th birthday Friday, April 13. Over 1,100 signatures of students, faculty, staff,church officials, and Berrien Springs officals were gathered b y the Andrews University Alumni Association. Holding a life-size poster of Neff are Don Prior (left), vice president of development, and public relations, and Wilson Trickett, president of the Andrews University Alumni Association. The original college bell, which dates to 1875, was rung 100 times at noon on Friday, April 13th 1973 in honor of Neff. Neff was an alum of Battle Creek College, the original name of Andrews University prior to its relocation from Battle Creek, MI to Berrien Sprigns, MI in 1901 when it became Emmanuel Missionary College, and then was re-named to become Andrews University in 1959 when Potomac University in Washington, D.C. relocated to merge with Emmanuel Missionary College.
