Image Information:
Title:Eric Juriansz with the Big Yellow Truck
Description:Missionary story-teller Eric B. Hare told a story of a missionary family in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) that went to market in their big yellow truck. En route to the market, they encountered a bus coming around a bend on a slippery, mountainous road. To avoid a collision, the family veered off the road and ended up going over a cliff. They thought they would surely die, but came to rest quite safely when their car hit a large tree growing on the side of the cliff. This impact saved their car from crashing into the raging river just a little further down the slope. Before the accident, the family had been attempting to start a church in the area and had met with strong resistance from the local people. However, when the people heard of their accident and their miraculous deliverance from injury and certain death, interest was sparked in their message and they were able to go forward with the new church. The man in this picture, Eric Juriansz, was the father of the family in the story
