Description:M. Richard Young was a worker at the Pacific Press in Oakland who was born on Pitcairn Island. He died suddenly at a young age and is buried in the Mt. View Cemetery, Oakland. Written on the back of the photograph: "Grave of Mayhew Young (Dick) named for Captain Mayhew Floger of the Topaz who was the first to locate Pitcairn 1808- Dick born 1860 died Oakland 1890 - buried here - I had his picture taken for his sister - Ellen Warrne Sanford now 91. Great-granddaughter of Thursday October Christian. He was to have married Ella Boyd, later Mrs. Charlie Snow."
